Valerie van Mulukom
Dr. Valerie van Mulukom is Assistant Professor at the Brain, Belief, and Behaviour Lab within the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations at Coventry University, United Kingdom. She does research on the cognitive and evolutionary science of belief. Main recent points of focus have been religious and nonreligious rituals and worldviews, and their psychological functions and effects. As part of this research she has conducted fieldwork on rituals in churches and nonreligious assemblies throughout the UK (e.g., Charles, van Mulukom et al., 2021, PLOS One) and a large cross-cultural survey on nonreligious beliefs and worldviews with 1,000 participants from ten countries around the world (van Mulukom et al., 2022, Psychology of Religion and Spirituality). She is an editor of the Journal for the Cognitive Science of Religion.
