Dr. Lois Lee
Lois Lee is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Kent. Her research looks at how people make meaning in contemporary societies, with an empirical focus on non-theist and nonreligious people and populations. She also explores the role of nonreligious worldviews in public life. Lois has taken a leading role in developing the scientific study of nonreligion and non-belief, founding the field’s research association, the Nonreligion and Secularity Research Network, and its first academic journal, Nonreligion and Secularism. Her books include Recognizing the Non-religious (OUP, 2015), The Oxford Dictionary of Atheism (OUP, 2016) and Negotiating Religion (Routledge, 2017).
Lois is also a Principal Investigator on the Explaining Atheism funded project Becoming non-believers: Explaining atheism in childhood
